Hinges You Tube Picture

Well, a laptop, PC or a tablet at least. If you want to tell the difference between a left and right handed butt hinges, or how to set a mole trap (and let’s face it, who doesn’t?) then our new YouTube channel will offer hours of endless fun.

In all seriousness, we have only just made a start and to date there are just nine videos posted to the channel but it’s a start – and we are very pleased to have got up and running with some really effective to-the-point videos which also look at spring hinges, the t hinge and door knockers. The statistics on the rise of the consumption of online video are staggering. comScore, Inc, a leader in measuring digital media has recently released  statistics revealing the extent of online video consumption in the UK in January 2012. Its figures reveal that such video reached 80% of the total Internet audience in the UK – this equates to 34 million people. In January this year 8.4 billion videos were watched by 34.2 million people for a total of 58.8 billion minutes. There have been other significant areas of growth for internet video. For example, there was an increase of 28% in the number of videos watched and a growth of 42 percent in the amount of time spent watching videos online.

Statistics aside, we also know through talking to our customers that they like plenty of product information and help. Product pages for hinges, door furniture and our hardware ranges contain detailed information, and there are plenty of online DIY guides on the website to help people to get the most from our hinges and other products and to give them the confidence to tackle DIY and home improvement tasks. Our online videos are an edition to these. Video can offer many advantages – it’s often easier than reading lots of text online and ‘showing, not telling’ often makes it easier for people to get a better idea of how to make the best of the jobs ahead.

The YouTube channel does not have to be just about hinges or moles! We welcome any ideas for products to demonstrate or jobs to tackle – just let us have your suggestions.
