Buy rising butt hinges from ironmongery Online

As well as our range of standard butt hinges, we also have a selection of rising butt hinges for those times when your door requires a little lift. Often when hanging a new door or re-hanging an existing door after new flooring has been fitting, the door can catch on the flooring but rather than having to go to the trouble of trimming your door down to fit, why not try using a rising butt hinge first. Classed as a more specialist type of hinge, these handy little hinges can be a great help and can save you valuable time when fitting a door.

Rising gate, door & fall hinges

A rising butt hinge or rise and fall hinge as they're sometimes known, will lift a door very slightly as it is opened so that it avoids catching on the flooring. When the door is closed, the hinge falls and the door will sit flush on the surface with no gap at all. However, please note rising hinges are not miracle workers, if the door is just too big by far then you will have to get your wood plane out and manually adjust the door.

The same hinges can be used on gates or even on stable styles doors as well where the same issue may be happening. However, rising gate hinges or rise and fall door hinges are only suitable for use on a wooden door but can be used on an internal or external door.

Why use rising hinges

Rising hinges can also be an ideal hinge to use to make removing a door easier. For example, if you're a keen DIY enthusiast who likes to ensure their doors are painted and maintained on a regular basis, then use a rising hinge as this will make it far easier for you to lift your door of when it is necessary to do so.

As with all our hinges, our rising hinges are made to the highest standards and are available in a variety of finishes, from brass to zinc plated and even self-colour to ensure your door hinges match the rest of your door furniture.
