Focus on Hurlinges

Part of our extensive hinges collection, hurlinges are something that many people have never heard of so we wanted to have a closer look in this blog at what they are and how they are used. Hurlinges are often used within the carpentry and joinery trade. They do not require cutting into the frame or the door. Additionally they have lugs shaped into the knuckle of the hinge that allow simple lining up and fitting. These two features mean that doors to be fitted quickly and accurately.

Carpentry remains a popular DIY activity too – partly for the pleasure of creating and finishing a project and perhaps because of the scarcity of experienced carpenters, and hurlinges enable DIY carpenters to finish their projects successfully and cost-effectively.

Hurlinges are often difficult to find in traditional hardware or ironmonger stores, and even larger DIY and builders merchants do not always stock these items so it is unsurprising that our online range has proved so popular. Regular customers also recognise the quality and value of the range.

Another advantage with our range is the number of finishes. Finishes include yellow passivated, zinc plated, chrome plated, electro brass and self colour; there really is a hinge to suit every need. Some finishes are more suited for any items that are stored or used outside but all are finished to a high quality to ensure they will last. Buying lower price but poorly finished hinges is a waste of money –they will need replacing sooner rather than later and can damage the look and function of any item they are used on.

Don’t forget that anyone can buy with confidence. We offer a No Quibble Returns policy on all of our non-bespoke ironmongery items. If the item you buy does not do suit simply follow the online guide on returning your items.

The standard range includes 75mm and 100mm hurlinges as well as fixed and loose pin items – if you are not sure what you need you can always contact us by phone, email or our Live Chat facility. If there is a item you need but don’t see on the website, then again please contact us: our experience means we may be able to source non-standard items.

They are therefore a popular choice with the carpentry trades, specifically house builders and 2nd fix carpenters.
