Where there’s brass there’s a trend

Trend spotters and trend predictors in the interior design sector don’t always agree but there seems to a consensus that one of the trends for the coming season is brass. UK TV’s Home channel has included brass accessories as one of its interior design trends for the coming year, noting ‘We spotted lots of metallic home accessories around, with brass and copper finishes proving the most popular. Brass… brings some glamour and glitz to your home.” The Decorologist website confirmed that all the online talk was of “brass being the hot “new” finish for lighting and plumbing fixtures” and confirmed “Brass is back.”

Our range of brass door handles and other hardware means you can extend this trend into the home easily and cost-effectively. We sell an extensive range of brass door furniture so finding the door furniture to complement this latest trend will be really easy – and won’t break the design budget either! Our online door hardware range includes door handles, letter plates, knobs and pulls, door plates and numbers. The furniture items can be used on doors, cabinets, chest-of-drawers and other items.

The great news about the return of the brass is that it can be used across a wide range of door furniture styles: we have brass door fittings that cover almost every design period including range Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian period.

Perhaps the most important aspect of buying anything brass is to make sure it is a quality finished item. Those of us of a certain age are all too aware of the horrible yellowing brass that was a staple of the 1970s home. In order to keep your brass looking good then the first step is to buy an item that has been finished properly. We have several decades of experience in finishing so you can be assured of a high quality item with a high quality finish.

There is also no getting away from the fact that whatever brass you introduce into the home will need maintaining. In fact one of the reasons for the decline in brass was attributed to the time that was required to keep it clean. There is a lot of advice on the best ways to keep it looking spick and span but all will take some time – but anything that looks as beautiful as brass deserves some effort to keep it looking at its best.
